Farmers, traders, artisans have lots to offer at Jubilee Park venue
At the height of the season the Bridgetown Farmers and Traders Market can boast numerous vendors offering produce, meat, baked goods, jams and jellies, and many handmade items. It opens for the season at Jubilee Park on May 20.
A sure sign that summer is only just around the corner is the opening of the summer farmer’s markets – and Bridgetown is no exception. The Bridgetown Farmers and Traders Market will be opening on Tuesday, May 20 for its third year in the delightful setting of Jubilee Park on the shores of the Annapolis River. It will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Tuesday until September 30.
“As well as all your favourite vendors from last year the market is also looking forward to introducing a number of very welcome newcomers,” said market manager John Wright. “There will be a wide variety of food producers offering locally grown, fresh, seasonal fruit and vegetables -- much of it organic or certified naturally grown.
Wright said there will also be fresh fish, fresh bread, baked goods, and other cooked goodies. A large range of crafted goods by local artisans – including jewelry, glassware, knitted and sewn goods – are also on offer.
If you’re feeling hungry why not treat yourself to a sausage from the D’Aubin’s barbeque or something yummy from the Eggplant Café’s stall?
“It is the intention to have live entertainment every week, showcasing the wide range of local talent and welcoming the occasional artist from further afield,” Wright said. The opening day will feature The Hilites Group - The Hilites augmented by some friends to open things up with a bang.
So come to the market in Bridgetown, you’re sure to have a great time, said Wright.
