The Free Spirit Therapeutic Riding Association, based out of Rohan Woods Stables in Aylesford, is seeking volunteers to assist with weekly therapeutic riding lessons.

In order to maintain programs for an increasing number of clients, Free Spirit Therapeutic Riding Association is seeking volunteers for its weekly therapeutic riding lessons.

Volunteers will  lead ponies and horses as well as walk beside clients throughout their lessons.

Operating out of their host facility, Rohan Wood Stables in Aylesford, FSTRA aims to service another 75 clients in 2014 through 12-week sessions in the spring and fall and a summer camp program. FSTRA provides programming for individuals who present with various cognitive, emotional, and physical exceptionalities as young as 3 years of age through traditional riding lessons.

This September, FSTRA has plans to launch Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Equine Assisted Learning (E.A.P./E.A.L.) which involves working with a herd of horses for the benefits of relationships within the contexts of families, couples, staff teams, co-workers and leadership groups.

Lessons are offered Mondays to Thursdays. No horse experience is required but volunteers are required to attend one training session to be held April 6 from 1:30 to 4:30.
