March 29 Old Family Photo Identification Workshop, 12:30-4:30, at the Bear River Museum / Oakdene Centre. Learn to date old phots, place people in your family tree, identifiy faces from your past and browse historic photo & reference books. Bring your old photos. Cost is $20. Family Fun

March 8 Take the Roof Off Winter on Saturday, March 8 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Melvern Square Community Hall.  Indoor and outdoor activities for the whole family.  Nordic walking, snowshoeing, parachute and frisbee games, prizes, refreshment.  Rain or Shine.  For more information call Marilyn at 765-8158.

 

Show & Tea

March 8 Rug Hooking Show and Tea at Wilmot Hall, Highway 1, 2 to 4 p.m. Free will offering. Enjoy a hot cup of tea with sandwiches and sweets. And view of hooked rug display

 

Buffet Supper

March 8 Buffet style variety supper at Maitland Bridge Hall 4 to 6 p.m. Includes fish cakes, baked beans, salads, ham, scalloped potatoes, chop suey, corned beef hash, casseroles, etc. and pie. Cost: adults $10; ages 5-12 $5; under 5 years is free. Proceeds for hall purposes. 

 

Steve Weeks in Concert

March 8 Steve Weeks in Concert from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Bridgetown Fire Hall Kids, bring your grandparents!  Grandparents, bring your kids!  Steve Weeks, a musician from Colorado, is touring the Maritimes.  Funny songs that tell stories will delight all ages.  Sponsored by the Annapolis Valley Regional Library and the RCMP Senior Safety Program.

 

Hymn Sing

March 9 There will be a Hymn Sing at the Wilmot Baptist Church Christian Fellowship Center (CFC) on Sunday, March 9 at 7:30 p.m.  (Corner of Highway # 1 and Dodge Road). Special guests are Valley Blue (James & Cathy Frank).  Join us for an evening of singing hymns and listening to Bluegrass Gospel. Refreshments will be served following the service. All welcome.

 

Tablet Time!

March 10 & March 11 During March Break we will present all four sessions of Tablet Time: mornings at the Bridgetown and Area Library and afternoons at the Lawrencetown Library.  Each session features a book, an app, and a literacy craft as well as time to explore our iPads.  Come to as many  sessions as you like.  For session details and registration, go to our  online Calendar of Events at www.valleylibrary.ca (For ages 3 - 6 and  their caregivers).

 

Friends of the Library AGM

March 11 The annual general meeting of the Annapolis Royal Friends of the Library will be held at the library on March 11 at 7 pm. After a brief AGM, including executive elections, Francis Newman, AVRL head librarian, will speak about future directions for public libraries in Nova Scotia. All members of the Friends of the Library and supporters of the local library branch are invited to attend.

 

Palliative Care AGM

March 11 Mid-valley Palliative Care Services annual general meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the Founder’s room of  Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital. (storm date: March 18).

 

Lions Luncheon

March 11 Noon Luncheon at the Kingston Lions Hall on Tuesday, March 11 from 12 to 1 p.m. Enjoy Chicken Supreme and mashed potatoes with all the fixings, coffee, tea and dessert. Autism Social Group

March 11 Social Group For Teens With Autism starts March 11for eight weeks. For ages 12 to 19 (also 20+ if in high school) with an autism spectrum disorder diagnosis (ASD). Meet every Tuesday, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., in the Sobeys’ Community Room, Greenwood. VON Lunch Bunch

Pipe-Cleaner Art

March 13 Pipe-Cleaner Art from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the Bridgetown and Area Library.

We'll be creating some cool art projects with pipe cleaners. Bugs,  crowns, worms, and more. Come see what YOU can make.  (Ages 8-12)

 

Pork Loin Supper

March 14 St. Patrick’s Stuffed Pork Loin Supper in support of the Activity Department of the “Heart of the Valley Long Term Care Facility” in Middleton on Friday, March 14 at Emmanuel Congregational Church, 37 Gates Avenue, Middleton from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Cost: $12 per person.       Reservations Recommended. Dance

March15 Kitchen Kuties are holding a dance in support of their Relay for Life team at Lions Hall in Nictaux Falls, 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Band is Jokers Right. Tickets are $25 per couple and may be purchased at the door or by calling Susan Parks at 825-4617.

 

St. Patrick’s Dinner

March 15 All Saints’ Church, Kingston will be holding a St. Patrick’s Day dinner on Saturday, March 15 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at All Saints’ Anglican Church, Pleasant Street , Kingston (turn west off Bridge St.). Menu: stuffed pork loin, mashed potatoes, turnip, carrots, peas, gravy, and dessert. Price: $ 12 tickets available from Gordie Skanes (825-6118) and Aline McNeil (765-8801) All are welcome.

 

Anxiety Support

March 18 to April 15 A five-week course, ‘Helping Anxious Children Course,’ for parents/ caregivers of children with anxiety on Tuesdays, 6 to 8 p.m. at Bridgetown Elementary School. Topics include: what is anxiety; encouraging courage; relaxation; importance of thoughts; facing fears; rewarding efforts and success. No fee to participate.
