YARMOUTH, N.S. – Minor hockey weekend results...


Bantam AA

On Oct. 20, the Wade’s Wire Trap Bantam AA Yarmouth Mariners won a tight 4-3 game against the Truro Bearcats. Goal scorers were Owen Penney, Michel Comeau, Spencer Surette and Orren Hatfield. Assists went to Owen Fitzgerald, Cameron Kerr, Connor Prouty, Spencer Surette and Alex Barr. Jacob Atwood was in net.

The next morning Yarmouth defeated Truro 6-2. Alex Barr had 4 points – 1 goal and 3 assists. Owen Penney scored twice while Orren Hatfield, Jaden Kerr and Spencer Surette each had singles. Ben LeBlanc had two assists while Ryder Travis, Cameron Brown, Owen Fitzgerald, and Spencer Surette each had one. Izaac Deveau was in net.

Next up the Wade’s Wire Trap Mariners will be in the road to participate in the Bluenose invitational Tournament in Amherst.


Bantam A

Nova's Finest Fisheries Bantam A Mariners traveled to Kentville for their first league game against Acadia this past weekend and tied 3-3. Scoring for the Mariners were Tyler Macleod assisted by Drew Goreham and Chase Perry; Lucas d'Entremont scored assisted by Dalton Sears; and Riley Hubbard scored assisted by Carson d'Eon. Tayvon Gabriel was in net for the Mariners.


Bantam A

The Yarmouth Bantam A Female Scotiabank Western Riptide White team played two home games versus Metro East Inferno Gold.

On Oct. 20 they won 2-0 with goals by Emily Crosby and Karli MacDonald. Breanne Deveau, Karli MacDonald and France Boudreau each had an assist. They also won their game on Oct. 21 by a score of 5-2. Carli Kini had two goals, and Madison Cushing, Chloe Swaine and Emily Crosby each had one goal. Ocean Sears had two assists with the other assists by Jada MacKinnon, Carly Kini, Sydnee Lloyd, Courtney Fitzgerald and Karli MacDonald.

Sophie Thimot was in net for both games.


Midget C

The Graham Construction Ltd Midget C (Reigh's) Mariners played Clare/Digby Midget C in an exhibition game this past weekend, with the Mariners capturing the 4-3 win.

Scoring for the Mariners were Hunter Muise with a hat-trick and Evan Locke with one goal. Assists went to Jacob Doucette (3), Jared Sanford (2), Chayton Bartlett and Dominic Higby. In nets for the win were Liam Campbell and Logan Leaman.

Scoring for Clare-Digby were Jaydin Bourque with two goals and Jordan Barteaux with one goal.

Assist went to Gaetan Deveau. In net was Connor Pyne.


Peewee A

The Yarmouth Scotiabank Western Riptide White Peewee A female team played two games against Metro East Inferno black.

The Oct. 20 game saw a 10-1 win for Riptide. Renée Olsen had 4 goals, Isabelle d’Entremont had 2 goals and Isabel Doucette, Alyssa Boudreau-Poole, Marissa Fevens and Allie Dugas each had one goal. Assists went to Renée Olsen, Alyssa Boudreau-Poole, Mercedes Melanson, Isabel Doucette, Kiersten Kenney, Brooke d’Eon, Katie Atkinson and Isabelle d’Entremont.

Oct. 21 saw a 7-0 win. Renée Olsen had three goals and Marissa Fevens, Isabelle d’Entremont, Isabel Doucette and Alyssa Boudreau-Poole each had one goal. The assists went to Isabel Doucette, Allie Dugas, Brooke d’Eon, Alyssa Boudreau-Poole, Marissa Fevens, Isabelle d’Entremont and Katie Atkinson.

Chloe Surette was in net for both games.


Atom AA

The Yarmouth Sweeny’s Funeral Home Atom AA Mariners played two games on Oct. 20 at Mariners Centre against the visiting Acadia Axemen.

In the first game the teams played to a 2-2 tie. For the Mariners, Parker LeBlanc fired in two goals while Cullen Fitzgerald and Sawyer Kristensen each had an assist. In net was Noah Muise.

In the second game the Mariners were handed a 6-1 loss. Parker LeBlanc found the back of the net and Sawyer Kristensen added an assist.


Peewee A Mariners capture silver at tournament

The GPK Refrigeration Peewee A Mariners earned silver in the 53rd Annual Bluenose tournament in Amherst this past weekend.

In their first round-robin game on Oct. 19 the Mariners lost to the Bedford Blues 6-3. Connor Pothier, Blake Newell and Drew Muise each had one goal, with Damien Cottreau, Ashton Samms and Connor Pothier assisting.

On Oct. 20 the Mariners played the Sackville Flyers to a 1-1 tie. The Mariners’ lone goal was scored by Damien Cottreau and assisted by Ben Lyons.

The next game on Oct. 20 saw the Mariners defeat the Moncton Hawks 3-0. Drew Muise, Connor Pother and Blake Newell each had one goal. Damien Cottreau, Ryan d’Entremont, Lucas Cottreau and Cameron Perry each had one assist. Goalie Brady Saulnier stopped all shots for the shutout.

Oct. 21 started with a knockout game against the Sackville Flyers, which the Mariners won 3-2 in a shootout to advance to the championship game. Regulation goals were scored by Damien Cottreau and Ashton Samms with Blake Newel adding one assist. The winning shootout goal was scored by Blake Newell.

The Mariners played in the championship game versus Bedford Blues and lost 5-4. All four Mariner goals were scored by Blake Newell, with Ben Lyons, Lucas Cottreau and Sean-Phillippe Fernandez helping with one assist each.

Brady Saulnier was in net all weekend.
