The Chris Scott Construction Peewee AA Gateways of Yarmouth were winners of a Canada Day weekend baseball tournament in Hants North.
The Gateways went 4-1 overall, including a 13-2 win over the Hants North Jays in the championship game.
In their tournament opener, the Gateways defeated the home team, Hants North, under the lights 13-3.
The following day – Saturday, June 30 – they struggled against the East Hants Nationals but persevered and pulled out a win by a score of 20-15.
Next, they played the Halifax Mets and fell short, losing 14-12.
On Sunday, July 1, they played the semifinals against the Tri-County Rangers and won 20-9 to secure a berth in the title game, where they downed Hants North 13-2 to take the tournament trophy.
