Yarmouth Consolidated Memorial High School’s junior boys basketball team captured the district championship for Shelburne and Yarmouth counties last week.

The Vikings defeated Drumlin Heights Consolidated School 57-35 in the title game of the district tournament, which was held March 6 and hosted by Barrington.

Jesse Abutu was the top scorer for Yarmouth in the final with 16 points.

Amarion Miller had 12 points for Drumlin Heights in the title game.

In earlier tournament play, Yarmouth was a 59-41 winner over Shelburne.

Owen Hemeon led YCMHS scorers in this one with 17 points.

Ryan Burton had 11 points for Shelburne.

In the tournament’s other opening-round game, Drumlin Heights defeated host Barrington 58-54.

Barrington defeated Shelburne in the consolation game.

Members of the district champion YCMHS team included coaches Gary Baxter, Russell Grant, Dylan Smith and Nolan Hatt. Players: Owen Hemeon, David Ihidero, Jesse Abutu, Michael Christenson, Ethan Grant, Brady Goudey, Ben LeBlanc, Nathan Paquette, Tanner Cormier, Josh Knox, Logan Curnew, Ethan Parker, Dyson Moses.
