WINDSOR, N.S. — The Windsor Hockey Heritage Society has created a scholarship for both a male and a female hockey player that is graduating from Avon View High School and attending a post-secondary institution.

Both recipients of the Birthplace of Hockey Scholarship will receive $500 towards their education.

Trina Norman, president of the Windsor Hockey Heritage Society, said they’d present their first scholarship during this year’s graduation ceremony.

“It’s something we’ve wanted to do for a long time,” said Norman.

She said the society is hoping to make the scholarship an annual contribution.

“We feel that it’s part of our mandate to do this,” she said. “We want to help not only hockey history, but the players too.”
