Despite the solid pitching record, the Rockies were still only able to come up with a split of their twin-bill with the Nova Scotia Canada Games Team.
In the opener, the Rockies won 7-0.
Schofield just missed a no-hitter in the opener, giving up a check-swing single in the sixth inning.
The Rockies collected 14 hits starting in the first inning on two singles by Adam Barkhouse and Hillary Fuller, followed by an RBI double by Aaron Harvey, who also collected a pair of base hits.
Trent MacKeil also doubled and hit two singles while Curtis Broussard singled twice and scored two runs.
The Rockies, after their first-inning run, scored a pair in the second inning and four more in the sixth. The seven run rule was enforced after six innings.
The second game saw the Nova Scotia Canada Games team win 3-2.
The Rockies scored their only two runs of the game in the first inning on Harvey’s two-run homer to left-centre after Trent MacKeil had been hit by a pitch.
Canada Games managed four hits in three innings off of Schofield before Broussard came on in relief.
The game was tied 2-2 going into the seventh inning when Colby Crowell singled and stole second for the Games and then came home with the winning run on a single to right field by Alex Rhoddy.
With the loss, the Rockis’ record on the season fell to 8-17. It was the Rockies fourth loss in five games.
The Rockies will close out their 2017 regular season at home Aug. 31 with a pair of games against the Brookfield Elks who are presently tied with the Halifax PepperJacks for first place. Both teams have 16-6 records.
Game times will be 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.
