The Halifax Wanderers were on the wrong end of an offensive free-for-all in Ontario on Saturday.

York9 FC filled Halifax’s net in a 6-2 Canadian Premier League game in front of 3,154 fans at York Lions Stadium in North York.

Rodrigo Gattas did the most damage, with a hat trick, and Ryan Telfer added a pair of goals. Emilio Estevez rounded out the York9 scoring, while teammate Roger Thompson even knocked one into his own net for one of Halifax’s goals. Tomasz Skublak was the Wanderers’ only true scorer on the day.

York9 scored four times in the opening half to take a commanding lead. Skublak broke through for Halifax in the 60th minute, only to see Telfer respond three minutes later to make it 5-1. The teams exchanged late scores when the result was already well in hand.

York9 scored on half of their 12 shots, while limiting Halifax to eight on their net.

The loss is the Wanderers’ fourth in a row in league play. Their overall CPL record slips to 5-9-2 and they are now 1-4-0 in the Fall Session. York9 improves to 3-2-0 in the second half and 5-5-5 on the year.

Halifax’s next game is on Wednesday on the road against FC Edmonton.
