The 14U Southwest Fusion girls volleyball team earned second place overall in a nine-team tournament held this past weekend in Digby.

They faced the Armview Storm in the final, losing in three sets.

Digby had two 14U teams in the tournament, each losing in the quarter-final round.

The Fusion came first in their pool, beating Dartmouth Volleyball Club 25-10, 25-23, Annapolis Valley Bolt 25-6, 25-13, Digby Crossfires White 25-5, 25-12 and splitting sets to Axe Volleyball Club team DeWolfe 25-13, 22-25.

They beat the Annapolis Blaze in the quarter-finals in two straight sets and DVC in the semis 25-14, 25-10.

This earned them a spot in the championship game, where they faced Armview Storm.

They fell short in three sets 23-25, 25-13 and 11-15 to win the orange Crossfire Classic T-shirts.

Their next tournament will be at the end of the month when they will compete in the Bedford Blizzard Tournament at Ecole Secondaire du Sommet.

The Fusion team is coached by Andrea Doucette and Andy Baxter.
