BARRINGTON/SHELBURNE, N.S. – Twenty-one teams took to the ice over the past two weekends at the Shelburne Arena and Sandy Wickens Memorial Arena in Barrington for the Shelburne County Minor Hockey Association’s (SCMHA) annual Fall Classic tournament.
The tournament “was a great success,” said Jennifer Sears, SCMHA president.
“The support from the fans over the two weekends was outstanding, which boosted our home teams’ confidence to see everyone in the stands.  I am very pleased with the turnout and support from our community for our players,” said Sears, adding she also received many positive comments from the away teams about the tournament.
Competition was held in five divisions over the two weekends. On Nov. 11 and 12, Atom A, Atom B and Peewee B teams faced off with Bedford Blues winning the Peewee B banner, the Sackville Flyers taking the Atom B title and the Shelburne Flames winning Atom A gold.
On Nov. 18 and 19, Peewee A and Bantam B teams laced up for the tournament. The TASA Ducks were the Bantam B banner winners, while the Shelburne Flames were the Peewee A tourney winners.
