The tournament for 12 and 13-year-old boys will take place Sept. 7-10. The local team has 12 members.
Coaches Trevor Croteau and Don Mailman and parents had the boys out on a bottle drive this weekend to raise funds for the trip.
They indicate that costs are a hefty addition to the regular season.
“We’re looking at $650 a player for hotel, gas and meals,” said Mailman.
The Kentville Pee Wee Wildcats are one of only two teams in Nova Scotia to qualify for this regional championship, he noted. The other provincial entry is from Dartmouth.
Mailman noted that a total of eight teams from four provinces qualified for the Moncton challenge.
