Valley high school rugby season starts April 12

WINDSOR, N.S. — The spring rugby season is about to get underway at Valley schools, with competition officially starting April 12 in the Valley High School Rugby League.

The league consists of boys and girls divisions. Teams include King’s-Edgehill, Avon View Avalanche, Central Kings Gators, Horton Griffins, Northeast Kings Education Centre Titans, Parkview Panthers, West Kings Wolverines and the Middleton Monarchs.

On April 12, the girls kick off the action with 4:30 p.m. start times. PVEC will visit KES, Avon View will travel to West Kings and Avon View’s b team will head to Middleton.

Then, on April 16, KES visits NKEC at 4:30 p.m., with CK visiting Avon View and Horton meeting West Kings. At 5:45 p.m., PVEC is scheduled to visit Avon View for a bout with the b team. April 16 is also the start of the boys season, with Avon View visiting CK at 4:30 p.m.

Avon View’s girls’ b team is scheduled to visit NKEC on April 17 for a 4:30 p.m. start.

April 18 sees most girls teams in action, with KES visiting Horton at Acadia, West Kings at CK, NKEC at Middleton, and PVEC at Avon View. The KES boys’ squad will be taking on Horton at Acadia’s Raymond Field at 5:15 p.m.

Games are scheduled up until the VHSRL semi-finals on May 21, and the final will be played on May 23. Date and time still to be decided.
