KINGSTON, N.S. — Some tough women are getting ready to race, shove, fall and laugh their way around the roller derby track in Kingston.

And they’re hoping to draw a crowd.

The Riptide Rollers roller derby team is hosting Mom-ster Bash out of the Credit Union Centre Arena at 1490 Westwood Street May 11.

Doors open at 5 p.m., and the squad’s first scrimmage of the season runs from 5:15 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.

There will be 50/50 tickets and door prizes, as well as Mother’s Day goodies and a roller disco from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Attendees can bring their own skates, or rent some on site.

There will be a $5 entry fee, but kids 12 and under will be admitted for free. Helmets are mandatory for participants aged 18 and under.
