New records set as junior, senior track athletes descend upon Acadia

WOLFVILLE, N.S. — A total of 541 athletes participated in the NSSAF Track and Field Kings-Hants district competition at Acadia University from May 8-9.

Athletes came from 16 different schools from across Kings and Hants counties.

There were 10 district records tied or broken during the competition.

Both the regional and provincial NSSAF Track and Field Championships will be held at Acadia on May 24-25, and May 31-June 1, respectively.

Record breaking athletes:

Intermediate Girls

• Triple Jump — New Record

1, Emma Rushton, HHS, 9.99 metres; 2, Hannah McGean, WK, 9.76 metres; 3, Sophie Edgar, HHS, 9.23 metres.

Senior Girls

• Triple Jump — New Record

1, Taylor O’Leary, AVON, 10.25 metres; 2, Mya Snarr, KES, 9.46 metres; 3,

Vilma Moilanen, KES, 8.86 metres.

Junior Boys

• 200-metre — New Record

1, Brody Davison, KCA, 24.76. 2; Will Shields, WHMS, 25.52; 3, Damien Llewellyn, CK, 26.76.

Intermediate Boys

• 400-metre — New Record

1, Zach James, AVON, 52.36; 2, Parker Fuller, HHS, 54.93; 3, Mowbray Beghin, HHS, 56.05.

Senior Boys

• 100-metre — New Record

1, Dan Lord, AVON, 10.81. 2; Jarred Douglas, KES, 11.25; 3, Rahjay Brown, NKEC, 11.35.

• 200-metre — New Record
