Carruthers recorded rounds of 78-79-78 in the tournament, which was won by Ashburn Golf Club's Mike Hebb in a playoff with last year’s champ Ernie Sheaves.

Hebb, the 2013 senior champion, moved to the top of the leader board in the third and final round after shooting a two under par 70. Sheaves fired a final round score of even par 72, and dropped a 35-foot put on the 18th hole to force the playoff. The two finished the 54 hole Championship with a total score of four over par 220.

They both birdied the first playoff hole, parred the second and it wasn't until the third playoff hole where Hebb dropped a par for the win.

Sheaves will lead the Nova Scotia senior men's team to the national championships at Desert Blume Golf Club in Medicine Hat, Alta., from Sept. 1-4.

Carruthers was one of two Digby golfers in the championship. Carey Edwards came 96th with rounds of 90-85-87.

Clare golfers Roger LeBlanc (87th) and Marc Tufts (104th) also competed.

The 2016 men's senior championship will be staged at Eden Golf Club in West Paradise.
