CAMBRIDGE, N.S. – The Central Kings Gators Senior Boys basketball team traveled to Amherst this past weekend to play in the Amherst Regional High School Christmas Classic Basketball Tournament.

In their first game, the Gators played Pugwash High School and won by a score of 84-56. All 12 Gators reached the scoresheet in this one, led by Alex Parnell’s 23-point performance which earned him the Player of the Game award.

In their second game, Central Kings faced tournament host Amherst, whose team jumped out to an early 25-6 lead and held on to win 76-55.

This loss put the Gators into the third-place game where they played the Fredericton High School junior varsity boys. The game was a fast-paced run and gun affair, but the Fredericton side used their superior outside shooting to carry them to a 110-84 victory.

Alex Parnell and Nolan “Oggie” Ogden led the Gators with 18 and 12 points respectively.

Nathan Parnell earned the team’s tournament All Star award by virtue of his consistent play and leadership of the Gator offense and defense.
