The Mavillette Mile will take place Sunday, Aug. 11, at Mavillette Beach.
Scheduled for 6:30 p.m., the event is hosted by Nova Scotia Lifeguard Services.
It is open to runners and walkers. Participants will have a chance to win prizes.
Donations will be accepted and will go to the Salmon River Fire Department.
Event organizer Alec d’Entremont hopes people will come out, take part and support the cause.
“Fire departments are very important in our small communities,” he said. “They are sometimes the first on scene for not only fires but medical emergencies. They must be trained to be able to continue this great service. I encourage everyone to come and have fun. It is for a great cause. Bring your family, friends and neighbours.”
