Maple Grove Education Centre captured the Shelburne/Yarmouth district championship for junior high girls basketball Tuesday by defeating Shelburne 56-50 in the title game of the four-team tournament.

The March 6 event was held at Maple Grove.

Zoe Schwan led the host Panthers in the championship game with 16 points and her Maple Grove teammates Janaya Hiltz and Ellie Hiltz scored 12 and 10, respectively.

Maple Grove advanced to the tournament’s title contest by defeating Barrington 41-31 in the afternoon’s first game.

Schwan scored 13 points in this one and Ellie Hiltz had 10.
