YARMOUTH, N.S. — The past weekend at Queens Emera Place in Liverpool, the Wade’s Wire Traps Bantam AA Mariners won the Nova Scotia Mainland Hockey League Championships.
During round robin play on Friday and Saturday, they won two games and tied one which clinched them 1st place in their division.
In Game 1 Yarmouth defeated the Cumberland Ramblers 7-0. Owen Penney and Cameron Kerr each scored three goals and Alex Barr scored one. Jacob Atwood was in net for the win and was selected MVP of the game.
Game 2 Yarmouth was victorious with a 9-5 win over Acadia. Goals were scored by Spencer Surette with 3, Orren Hatfield and Jaden Kerr with 2 each, and Michel Comeau and Owen Penney each with one. Izaac Deveau was in net for the win. Player of the game was Connor Prouty.
Game 3 saw Yarmouth tie South Shore 3-3. Goals were scored by Cameron Kerr with 2 and Owen Penney with 1. Jacob Atwood was in net for the tie. Player of the game went to Owen Fitzgerald.
On Sunday morning Yarmouth defeated Western valley 7-0 in the semi-final game. Goals were scored by Owen Penney with 2 while Owen Fitzgerald, Alex Barr, Michel Comeau, Orren Hatfield, and Dalton Sears each had one. Jacob Atwood was in net for the win. MVP of the game went to Owen Penney.
The championship game was held later that day against Acadia. Yarmouth won by a score of 6-1. Goals were scored by Michel Comeau had 2 while Owen Fitzgerald, Owen Penney, Cameron Kerr, and Ryder Travis each had one. Izaac Deveau was in net for the win. MVP of the game went to Cameron Kerr.
Yarmouth will be hosting the Nova Scotia Bantam AA Hockey Provincials April 11- 14.
