LIVERPOOL, NS - It ended up going to a shoot out, but the Western Hurricanes managed to pull off a 4-3 victory over a Pictou County team over the Oct. 21-22 weekend.

The Wear Well Bombers got off to an early start in the Oct. 21 match at the Pictou County Wellness Centre, with Landen MacDonald scoring the only goal of the first period.

The Hurricanes rallied back in the second, with Luke Woodworth responding with a goal with less than five minutes left on the clock in the second.

The two teams traded back and forth goals in the third, with Lawson Cook scoring four minutes into the third to give the Hurricanes their first lead in the game, but Matt Carson rallied back for a power play goal five minutes later after the Hurricanes got into trouble for boarding.

Will Chisholm picked up an unassisted goal five minutes later to give the Wear Well Bombers back the lead.

It came down to the last 10 seconds of the game, but Ryan Green, assisted by Carson, fired the puck past the Pictou County netminder to tie things up and force the shootout.

The Hurricane were not as lucky the next day, dropping a 9-1 decision to The Gulls in St. Margarets Bay on Oct. 22. Cameron Duval had the only Hurricanes goal late in the first period.
