After losing the opening two games of the series to the Liverpool Privateers by scores of 8-5 and 5-3, the Leafs came back to win Games 3 and 4 by scores of 2-1 and then 6-5 in Game four, which the Leafs won in double overtime.
The Privateers currently lead the Best of Seven Fred Fox Divisional Final 3-2 over the Maple Leafs following their 5-1 victory in Windsor on March 24.
The Privateers have outscored the Maple Leafs 24-17 in the five games played between them in this playoff series to date.
The Leafs are stepping on the ice on March 27 in Liverpool with the hope of forcing a game 7, which would be played in Windsor on March 29 if they win.
If the Liverpool Privateers win game 6 they’ll be moving on to play against the Pictou County Scotians.
To get to game 7, the Leafs will be looking for another strong performance from “sensation” Bailey Peach who has tallied three goals and five assists in eight points in only six games compared to the 11 points collected by Isaac Bridge and Wesley Demone in 12 playoff games to date.
Peach joined the Maple Leafs late in the regular season from the Cole Harbour Triple AAA Midget Colts.
Tyler Young is the only Leafs player in the League’s Top 5 in scoring, presently dominated by the Pictou County Scotians.
Young has recorded eight goals; three of which were on the power-play and eight assists for 16 points and is just one point out of the League Playoff Scoring Race.
As for the Privateers, they received a superb game from Alex Nauss on March 24 and will be looking for another solid defensive game from their blue-line corps.
Goaltending will be key once again as the Privateers’ Logan MacEwan presently has a 2.4 GAA and a .930 save percentage compared to Christopher Clokie’s .900 save percentage.
