A six-a-side spring football program sponsored by Valley Minor Football kicked off on the April 19 weekend with a game between the two Valley bantam squads: the Fighting Irish and the Red Dogs.
Both the Valley bantam teams are part of an eight-team provincial 6-aside spring league, which also includes teams from Bedford, Dartmouth and Timberlea, all of which will be in Canning Saturday, April 26 for three games starting at 9:30 a.m.
Valley Minor Football is also running local six-a-side spring programs in other divisions - mite, atom, peewee and midget - in association with, and with the support of, the Acadia Axemen football program.
All the spring programs are scheduled to run from April into June, with a total registration of nearly 200.
