The Avalanche started the scoring early on a ten-yard rush by Quarterback Jack Sheehan in the opening quarter for a 7-0 lead.
Sami Whidden then scored the Avalanche’s next TD, with the convert being blocked, to put the Avalanche up 13-0.
Devin Bryan made two sensational punts into the Antigonish school’s end zone for single points to give the Avalanche a 15-0 lead at half-time.
Avon View did not let up and started the third quarter strongly with Joe MacDonald making three consecutive rushes of 15 yards, the final one for a TD and a 22-0 Avalanche lead.
The Avalanche’s defence was also strong throughout the afternoon, as Jared Wile returned an interception for a TD and a 29-0 Avalanche lead.
J.H. Gillis finally made it into the Avon View end zone halfway through the fourth quarter but had their convert blocked and Avon View held a 29-6 lead after the opposition touchdown.
On the ensuing kick-off by the Royals, Will Caines of the Avalanche made an impressive 45 kick-return to place the ball on the Antigonish 40-yard line.
A couple of plays later, Quarterback Devin Bryan threw a 25-yard pass to Tyler Eddy for a touchdown followed by a two-point convert and a 37-6 win.
Avon View now occupies second place in the NSSAF Division II Standings and will return to the road Thanksgiving night Oct. 9 in a 6 p.m. start against Millwood High at Burnside before returning home Sunday afternoon, Oct. 15, for a 4 p.m. home kick-off against Central Kings.
