On the defensive side, Hebb also played a leading role, registering a huge interception. Jem Whidden also had an interception for the Avalanche to go along with two fumble recoveries by the team.
“David George had an absolutely monster of a game on defence with 12 tackles,” said Jim Bryan, Avon View's director of athletics in an email following the match.
In addition to Hebb's touchdown, Eugeneo Rocco booted a field goal while Jordan Bauchman hauled in three passes for 35 yards.
“It has been an up and down season to date as despite today's victory, the inconsistency of our offence to sustain drives has made it difficult to win all games,” said Bryan.
He believes better blocking from the offensive line and receivers will go a long way toward rectifying the situation.
He explained the key players on offence are very young and inexperienced so growing pains were expected.
As for the defence, Bryan said "it has been solid and consistent” and cited George, Whidden, Ryan Harvey, Austin States and Darion Amos as leading the team defensively.
“Devin Sexton contributes both offensively and defensively but played injured the first half. If he rebounds from his injury, he will have a huge second half (of the season),” Bryan said.
The Avalanche will be looking to improve their record to 4-2 on the season as they host Dr. J. H. Gillis from Antigonish at 1 p.m. Oct. 25. In Antigonish earlier this season, the Avalanche scored a convincing 32-12 win.
Avon View will play their final regular season game Nov. 1 at home against Central Kings.
