ST. CROIX, N.S. — The White Rock Rockies’ playing coach Justin Schofield summarized the opening game of a double header as best he could: “the wheels fell off the bus.”
The Rockies lost 6-1 to the Colchester Royals June 21 in St. Croix.
The Royals plated five runs in extra innings. To add misery to the game, the Rockies were no hit by the Royals’ Nathan Landry, despite scoring their lone run.
In the second game, Colchester came out on top 4-2.
The Rockies fell behind 4-0 and were held hitless for the first six innings.
Tyler Whynot and Trent Mackeil stroked singles in the seventh inning to go along with a pair of walks to score their two runs but it wasn’t enough as the Rockies lost 4-2.
Curtis Broussard was the losing pitcher for the Rockies while David Watson threw six innings of no-hit ball and wound up with a two-hitter for the visiting Royals.
The Rockies will be back in action June 28 when they will play a twin bill with the 3-1 Halifax Pepperjacks at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. in St. Croix.
