Whynot clubbed a grand slam home run June 25 in Stewiacke, part of the White Rock Rockies’ nine-run explosion in the second inning. The Rockies won 11-3.

The Rockies used five pitchers in the game, including Justin Schofield, who only hurled the first inning and struck-out the side.

Matt Lyttle threw two innings and struck out four while giving up a single hit.

Curtis Brossard, Brandon Kennedy and Patty Benedict pitched the final four innings for the Rockies.

Ryan Harvey, of West Hants, pitched for Stewiacke. Harvey is travelling for softball this season because Newport does not have a midget-aged team registered with Softball Nova Scotia.

The Rockies are at 6-2 on the season. They do not play this week, giving them time to prepare for their scheduled doubleheader with the Brookfield Elks on July 9 in St. Croix. The first game starts at 7 p.m.
