Walker began the onslaught for the Thunder with a two-run double in the first and then Nathan Lake connected for a grand slam home run in the third inning when the Thunder plated 11 runs.

The Thunder scored five runs in the fourth inning and received triples from Walker and Hamilton in their 7-6 victory over Newfoundland’s Eastern Speedway.

Tournament director Paula George said she was delighted with the assistance she received from parents and all volunteers after the West Hants Thunder were awarded the tournament in January.
George noted that Shane Rogers, the Thunder’s head coach, played a vital role in the organization.
“It was a true pleasure to work with all teams entered in the tournament,” she said.
