It is with deep sorrow that we the family of Yvonne Cecile Fitzgerald (nee MacDonald) announce her unexpected passing in Sydney on Wednesday May 30, 2018. Born in Neil’s Harbour on Feb. 15, 1960 to Joseph and Thelma MacDonald (nee Rideout). Yvonne was all about her family. She cherished and always made time for her kids and grandkids and will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and a big heart. She grew up and spent her entire life in Neil’s Harbour working alongside her beloved husband, and best friend, Graham at their garage. She could also often be seen out walking the beaches looking for sea glass. Yvonne is survived and will be missed by her husband, Graham; daughters, Allisha (Jason) Lillington and Shavonne (John) Leriche; step children, Danny (Jaye) Fitzgerald of Ottawa and Tammy Hubert of Eganville, ON; her mother, Thelma MacLeod; grandchildren, Madison, Alexa, Macy, Cole, Cassidy, Makyla and Chloe; brothers, Jeffrey (Brenda) of Ingonish and Conrad (Nancy) of Fox Creek, AB; sister-in-law, Debbie Barrington; aunt, Lorraine Rideout; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends, including her card club friends, Jean Ingraham, Freda Fitzgerald, Juanita Warren and Susan Dowling. Yvonne is predeceased by her father, Joseph; as well as her brother, Ted and two infant siblings, Joseph and Jeffrey. The family will be available to meet with friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Monday, June 4th at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Neil’s Harbour. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. also on Monday from St. Andrew’s Church with Rev. Carolyn Sharpe officiating. Yvonne’s cremated remains will be laid to rest in the church cemetery immediately following the service. Condolences may be offered to the family by visiting www.fillmoreandwhitman.com.
