Wilma Thompson

BAYVIEW – Wilma Yvonne Thompson, 80, Bayview, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2018 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Oxford, she was the eldest daughter of the late William and Hilda (Moore) Embree. Wilma was a school teacher in her earlier years, teaching in Brookfield, River Philip, Onslow, and St. John’s. She enjoyed singing, reading, doing puzzles, offering hospitality, serving her church in several ministries and spending time with friends and family. Surviving are her husband, Gordon; children, Richard (Jennifer), Vancouver, BC; Susan (Chad) Trude, Sunderland, ON; and Ellen (Glen) Osborne, Pickering, ON; grandchildren, Evan, Carter, Reid, Hannah, Aiden, and Davis; sisters, Carol Embree and Kathryn Schlitt, both of Oxford; brother, Kenneth, Amherst. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Roger and Brent. The family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Pictou Community New Horizons Club.
