Funeral service for the late William John Nicholas, 49, We’koqma’q First Nation, was held July 30 in Blessed St. Katari Parish Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, We’koqma’q, with Father Conrad Edwards officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Mr. Nicholas died July 23, 2018, in Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Pictou Landing, he was a son of the late John Noel and Julia (Clair) Nicholas. He is survived by his common-law wife, Lucille Bernard; daughter, Julia, We’koqma’q; son, Ayrton, We’koqma’q; step son, Randy Alex, Eskasoni; seven sisters, Mary Bridget Paul (Herman), Eskasoni; Mary Irene Parker (Kenny), Pictou Landing; Margaret Nicholas, Pictou Landing; Noreen (John) Milleau, Big Cove, New Brunswick; Fran Nicholas (Everett Savary), Pictou Landing; Janet Stevens (Dwayne), Eskasoni; Shirley Prosper, Eskasoni; brother, Thomas Clair (Esther), Big Cove, N.B.; adopted mother, Murielle (Fraser) Parkes, Montreal; three adopted siblings, DebLeah Parkes, Daniel Parkes, James Parkes; numerous nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Douglas Simon Clair, Joseph Simon Clair, John Roger Nicholas; sister, Agnes Nicholas; adopted sister, Penelope Parkes; brother-in-law, Peter Prosper.
