Wilfred Kenneth Wayne Nordin
Of Mount Uniacke passed away in his home, at age 76, on October 11, 2018. Born in Halifax, he was a son of Walter and Cecilia (Pottie) Nordin. Wayne retired from the Canadian Armed Forces after 36-plus years of service, then for 15 years he ran his own barbershop in Mount Uniacke. Wayne is survived by his wife, Nancy (McGrath) of 56 years; son, Ken (Nadine); daughters, Marlane (Brian), Heidi, Jen; sisters, Irene (Darrel), Janet (George); brothers, Gary (Judy), Ernest (Brenda), Vincent; grandchildren, Michael, Alex, Mark, Zoe, Daniel, Jemma; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Walter and Cecilia; brothers, Joseph, Donald, Karl; and sister, Mary. Over his lifetime, Wayne was many things to many people: son, brother, friend, loving husband, father, grandfather, confidant, teacher, colleague, sailor, barber and jack of all trades. There wasn't much he didn't know, and nothing he wouldn't do for his loved ones. He left footprints on all of our hearts. He was dearly loved and will be missed by his family, extended family, Mary's girls, lifelong friends, friends in the community, and his Navy buddies. Thanks are extended to the staff of the QEII Cancer Centre, HCH palliative care team, VON, Northwood Homecare for the excellent help and care provided. A Celebration of Life service will be held in Atlantic Funeral Home in Lower Sackville on October 16th at 1 p.m. Burial in Oakridge Memorial Gardens with a reception to follow in the Mount Uniacke Legion. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Prostate Cancer Canada or charity of choice. Online condolences may be made at: www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com Sackville Chapel.
