Funeral service for the late Wayne Wiswell MacDonald, 70, was held September 14 in Stella Maris Church with Father Dan MacDonald officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Mr. MacDonald died September 9, 2018, in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. Born September 16, 1947, he was a son of the late Josie and Violet (Wiswell) MacDonald. He was an avid horseman, who dedicated many years to the Inverness Raceway. He was a member of the Inverness Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He worked many years ago with his friend Jimmy in Alberta, as a member of Local 92. Prior to that, he worked for several years at Tubetti’s Esso as a body man, the department of highways and as a professional bartender. His love for music was shared by many over the years at many a kitchen party, cording to the violin or singing an old country song. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Catherine (MacDonnell); two sons, JJ (Noelle), Jimmy (Jane); the daughter he never had, Cathy (Paddy); six grandchildren, Xavier, Peyton, McKenzie, Regan, Logan, Branden; four sisters, Jesslyn Russell (late Andy Russell), Caroline (late Hector Mackenzie), Linda (Alex MacEachern), Valarie (Gussie Campbell); sister-in-law, Norma MacDonnell; brother in-law, Norman Beaton; four special nephews, Johnny, Adam, Don, Paddy; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father and mother-in-law, John Angie and Mary Lizzie MacDonnell; sister, Eileen; brother-in-law, Jimmy; godchildren, Colin Basker, Stefanie MacLean.
