AMHERST/GEORGETOWN, P.E.I. – Virginia R. McAleese, age 76, of Amherst and formerly of Georgetown, PEI passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan. Born in Georgetown, PEI, she was a daughter of the late William and Cecelia (Clarkin) Burke. She is survived by daughters, Angela O’Brien (Gary), Cardigan, PEI; Cathy McAleese (Jamie Grant), Amherst; sisters, Lauretta, Hilda, Mary; brothers, Jimmy, Stewart, Anthony, Cecil, Wayne; brothers-in-law, Roscoe McAleese (Faith) and Fred McAleese (Nancy); grandchildren, Daniel, Evan, Kyle, Jenna, Keera; numerous nieces and nephews; close family friend, Edward Arsenault. She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel; a son, John Paul; a sister, Agnes. As keeping with Virginia’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service held. Burial will take place in St. Brigid’s Catholic Cemetery, Parrsboro at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Care Program of the Cumberland Regional Health Centre.
