It is with great sadness that we, the family of Violet, announce her peaceful passing at Northside General on May 20, 2018. She was a daughter of John and Lillian McRae (Grand Anse). Mom was a longtime resident of Sydney Mines where she operated Jone’s Bottle Exchange with her longtime companion, Connie Jones. She was well known in the harness racing community. Mom had a great love of animals, especially her cats. Mom is survived by her sons, David (Donna) and Graham (Rose Marie); her daughters, Kendra, Pamela, Audrey (Marc) and Sharon; grandchildren, Ryan, Jonathan, Shelby and Lisa; her great-grandchildren, Madison, Kennedy, Marley and Sadie; sister, Mary, and brother, Graham of St. Peter’s. Mom is predeceased by father of her children, Bobo Bonaparte; her daughter, Lisa; sisters, Leona, Lena, Mildred and Hilda, and brothers, Roy, Jack, Winnie, Stuart and Duncan. Visitation for Violet will take place Friday, May 25 from 1-2 p.m. at Chant’s Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Celebration of Life will take place immediately following at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Reception to follow. Donations in loving memory of Violet may be made to the SPCA.
