RADZIKOWSKI, Victoria Mary We, the family of Victoria Mary Radzikowski, regret to announce her passing on Saturday, September 7, 2019, at Celtic Court, Sydney. Born June 30, 1926, in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Mary (Sakalauskas) Malinowski. Victoria’s sense of humour, quick wit, unparalleled storytelling abilities and dedication to those around her will be forever missed by her family and friends. She had a sense of adventure and never missed an opportunity to travel; from her honeymoon in the Mediterranean on her husband’s merchant ship to several trips to Poland, even in her later years. Vicky was proud of her Eastern European heritage and especially loved preparing Polish delicacies for family and friends. An avid reader and Scrabble enthusiast, she was skilled at crocheting and quilting. She also enjoyed hiking, swimming and spending time outdoors. Babcia treasured every moment she shared with her grandchildren. Widowed at an early age, Vicky entered the workforce to support her four young children on her own. She was an inspiring example of hard work and resilience. She spent nearly four decades working as a secretary for a number of local organizations, including the RCMP, the City of Sydney and Addiction Services. Victoria is survived by her daughters, Pauline (Tony) Wenham, Aberdeen and Angela Radzikowski, Valleyview, Alberta; son Vincent (Anna), Sydney; grandchildren, Vince (Tara), Suzanne (Ali), Nicole (Kiel), Lisa (Colin) and Russell; great-grandchildren, Calysta, Heidi and another on the way. She was predeceased by her husband, Vincent and daughter, Emilia Radzikowski. The last surviving member of her immediate family, Victoria was also predeceased by her sisters, Anna Brown, Kathleen Malinowski, Pauline Olauson and Veronica Malinowski and brothers, Joseph, Charles and Francis. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday, September 12 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Polish Church, Whitney Pier on Friday, September 13 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Dennis Lamey officiating. Interment in New Calvary Cemetery. A sincere thank you to the wonderful staff at the Heritage House in Port Hood, My Cape Breton Home for Seniors in North Sydney and especially, Celtic Court for the care and compassion shown to Victoria.
