Thomas ‘Tom’ Patrick Gilfoy

Funeral service for the late Thomas ‘Tom’ Patrick Gilfoy, 65, was held September 17 in St. Ninian Cathedral, Antigonish, with Father Donald MacGillivray officiating, assisted by Father Doug MacDonald. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Mr. Gilfoy died September 12, 2018, in Oakwood Terrace, Dartmouth. Readers at the funeral Mass were Danny Gilfoy, Gus Leuschner and Eileen Shabala. Kendra, Rachel and Kate Bourgeois presented the offertory gifts. Music was provided by Ty Wallace. Pallbearers were Tim Gilfoy, Marty Gilfoy, Kevin Gilfoy, Hal Gilfoy, Joe MacFarlane and Ken MacFarlane. Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late William and Josephine ‘Tootsie’ Gilfoy. He grew up in William’s Point before moving to the L’Arche Community, Antigonish. He was a long time adherent of St. Ninian Cathedral and past member of the CACL Workshop. He was a fond lover of music and sports. He is survived by sister, Pat (John) Moffatt, Dartmouth; brother, William-Bud (Barb) Gilfoy, Ladysmith British Columbia; niece, Kendra (Robert) Bourgeois; four nephews, Mark Moffatt, Bill (Louise) Gilfoy, Kevin and Jesse Gilfoy; two grand-nieces, Rachel and Kate Bourgeois; two grand-nephews, Matteo and Alasdair Gilfoy; numerous cousins.
