Shirley Marie Taylor

Shirley Marie Taylor, 82, of Sydney, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Frances (MacDonald) MacDougall. Shirley was a member of St. Theresa’s Church, Sydney. She worked as a telephone operator with MT&T for many years. She was an avid gardener and was a member of the Sydney Garden Club, and the Red Hats Society, Halifax. This past April she was crowned Queen at TOPS NS 3528, Fairview. Shirley is survived by her sons, James (Marjorie) and Ross (Chris), all of Halifax; grandsons, who were her greatest and proudest achievement, Scott and Bradley, both of Halifax; sisters, Catherine Burke, Carol MacQueen, Joan Dota, Lois (Bob) Barrington, all of Sydney, and Frances MacDougall, ON, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by a brother, Gerald. There will be a visitation celebrating Shirley’s life held on Thursday, October 18, from 2-4 in Sydney Memorial Chapel. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, ICU Fund.
