Sharon Colbourne

Sharon Colbourne
It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Sharon Colbourne on Wednesday, December 12, 2018. Born November 10, 1946, she was the daughter of the late James and Mildred (Champion) Hayes. Sharon was predeceased by her husband and love of her life, George; grandparents, William “Bob” and Ethel Champion (by whom she was raised) and brother, Billy. She is survived by her loving children, George (Dale) and Trina (Shane) Connors. Sharon will be missed by the joys of her life, her cherished grandchildren, Alyssa, Jenna, Tristan, Brayden and Avery. Also surviving is her sister, Debbie (Terry) Butler and sister-in-law, Judy Hayes. Sharon leaves behind many loved nieces, nephews and friends, especially her life-long best friend, Marilyn Ferguson. Sharon was a faithful member of United Heritage Church, Sydney and was employed as the manager of Equifax until 1986, when her MS prevented her from working. She enjoyed immensely getting together with special friends, Mary, Judy, Marilyn, Shirley, Mae and Thelma on Wednesday afternoons for laughs, love and games. Sharon will be forever remembered for her sweet smile and gentle, kind and loving nature that inspired all who had the blessing of knowing her. The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Murphy, Palliative Care (especially sweet Holly), the VON, Cape Breton Homemakers and the Cape Breton Cancer Centre. Funeral service will be held at United Heritage Church on Monday, December 17 at 10 a.m., with Rev. Rosemary Godin officiating. Interment will take place at later date. Memorials may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation, United Heritage Church, Palliative Care or the Cape Breton Cancer Centre at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
