Ruth Forsey — Sydney

We are sad to announce the passing of Ruth Forsey, age 102, at the Cove Guest Home, Sydney on Sunday, April 8, 2018. Born in North Sydney on December 11, 1915, she was the daughter of the late William and Amelia (Billard) Amey. Ruth had a longtime association with St. Mathew Wesley United Church in North Sydney. She often recalled fond memories of church activities in her younger years and her involvement in the Ruth unit of the UCW. Ruth also enjoyed a good game of crib and was famous for her ginger cookies. Ruth is survived by her four daughters, Lois (Harry) Goodwin, Linda (Lloyd) Knott, both of Truro, Jean Forsey, Dartmouth, Cheryl (Paul) Belanger, Canmore, AB; two sons, Gary (Kathy) Forsey, Sydney, David (Kathy) Forsey, Dartmouth; by sixteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; by her sister, Gloria (Murray) Neilson, Vancouver BC and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, James S. Forsey; two sons, James A. Forsey, Brian Forsey; three sisters, Olive Murray, Ethel Francis, Jean Walsh and by four brothers, Roland Amey, Arthur Amey, William Amey and Gerald Amey. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. A. F. D’Intino, Dr. John Archibald, and the staff of the Cove Guest Home for the excellent care given to Ruth. There will be no visitation by request. A funeral service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County, 4th Floor Cape Breton Regional Hospital P.O. Box 561 Sydney, NS B1P 6H4.
