Roy Rushton
Roy Clinton Rushton, age 100 , Tanner Hill, Pictou County, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018 in the Northumberland Veterans Unit, Pictou. Born in Amherst, on January 15, 1918, he was a son of the late Joseph and Lily (Doyle) Rushton. Roy was a overseas veteran of both W.W.II and the Korean Conflict; first as a Paratrooper in W.W.II and in the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, 2nd Battalion in the Korean War. Roy was also the Past President of the Normandy Veterans Association. Roy is survived by his wife Margaret (Rae); sons, Barry (Kathy), Robbie (Wanda), Joey and Brady; brother Doug Rushton; 7 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Eva Ruston, Helen MacDonald, Edna Miller, Hazel Miller and Dorothy MacNeil; brothers, Orland, Lloyd and Harold. Roy’s family would like to thank the staff of the Veterans Wing in Pictou for taking care of Roy while he was there. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitations or services at his request. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Northumberland Veterans Unit in Pictou.
