After raising her family, and wanting to share her talents with her friends and community, she volunteered with many organizations in Antigonish, especially the CWL and The Opportunity Shop. In 1986, she founded Marie’s Flowers and because of her business acumen, design skills, friendly disposition committed to old fashion service and empathy for all people, she built up a very successful business, which she later sold upon retirement. In her golden years, she and her husband enjoyed travelling, especially their annual trips to Florida and South Carolina. Their trip to Scotland and Barra to reconnect with her Scottish heritage was especially memorable. She is survived by her husband, Lester ‘Les’ MacIntyre; two daughters, Charlene, Karen (Andrew); four sons, Terry (Anne), Michael (Kathleen), Kevin (Alison), Paul (Karen); 14 grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Agnes (Calvin), Geraldine (Ira), Mary Louise, Wanda (William); six brothers, Daniel (Delores), Hazard (Sharon), Elmer (Mary), Adrian (Doris), Wendell (Barb), Joseph (Terry).
