Ronald George Rooth
With great sadness the family announces the passing of Ronald George Rooth, 77, on June 3, 2018 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Ron was the son of the Late John and Dorothy (Langille) Rooth, of Sydney. Ron grew up on Mira Road in the 1950’s, loved dancing at the Venetian Gardens, and swimming in Rotary Park. Ron moved to Galt (Cambridge), Ontario in 1964, married in 1965, and worked as a crane operator for Babcock & Wilcox until his retirement in 2000 when he moved back to the home of his heart, Cape Breton. Ron spent his retirement trout fishing, listening to 50’s music, and singing and playing his guitar at kitchen parties. He is survived by his wife, Cedella ‘Della’ (Tudor); son, Ronald John; daughter-in-law, Louise (Bradbury); brothers, James, Robert, Jay, Richard, Gregory and Patrick; sister, Deborah; and many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. He is predeceased by brothers, John and Terrance; sister, Donna, and sister-in-law, Cheryl. A celebration of life will take place on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Chant’s Funeral Home Chapel, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a local SPCA. Messages and memorials may be directed to the Rooth family by visiting www.chantfuneralhome.ca.
