BRADLEY, Robert Florence It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Bradley, age 71, on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Sydney Mines on June 6, 1948, he was the son of the late Robert and Mildred (Collins) Bradley. Robert was employed at the Sydney Steel Plant for 30 years, until his retirement in 1999. In his earlier days, Robert enjoyed bowling and playing ball. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, and loved cooking for his family. Robert was a great man that did everything for his family. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Robert is survived by the love of his life, and wife of 47 years, Irene (Devoe) Bradley; his pride and joy, daughter, Michelle (David); two beautiful granddaughters, Madison and Morgan, who were the light of his life, and welcome addition, grandson, Jordan Evans. Also left to mourn are his brother, Billy, North Sydney; sisters, Jean (Joe) Young, PEI, Christina (Roger) Mercer, Halifax, Elaine (Tony) Wassilaskus, Sydney Mines, and Deena (Rick) Marit, Saskatchewan, many nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law. Besides his parents, Robert was predeceased by his sister, Linda McGuirk, Laura Mylchreest; father and mother-in-law, Elmer and Pearl Devoe; sisters, Anna, Marcella, and brother, Bobby, all in infancy. The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Paul Hickey and Lori, and Dr. Wambolt for all their care, especially over the last few months. Thank you also to Thoracic Surgeon Dr. D. French and his team, nurses and support staff at the Victoria General Hopsital. Cremation has taken place. Visitation for Robert Bradley will be held on Monday, September 16, 2019, from 7-9 p.m. in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. A celebration of his life will take place on Tuesday, at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Jim Oliver officiating. Donations in Robert’s memory may be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Centre at the Regional Hospital. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to his family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
