GAUDET, Philomena Mary “Philly” We, the family of Philomena Mary Gaudet, regret to announce her passing on Friday, September 6, 2019, at Glasgow Hall, Dartmouth, NS. Born October 2, 1934, in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late Leander and Violet (Tremblett) LeBlanc. Philomena’s first love was her family. She also had a great love for dancing, music, sewing, crocheting and spent many hours in the kitchen cooking and baking. She would not only bake for her family, but always had cookies for the kids in the neighborhood, too. Friends and family were always welcome in her home and never left before sharing a cup of tea and a sweet treat.Philomena is survived by her daughters, Joan (Fabian) Nearing, Sydney and Anne (Mario) Laliberte, Elmsdale; grandchildren, Kimberly (Cory), Jennifer, Christine (Shaun), Edmund, Crystal (Tim), Michelle (Matthew) and Chantal (Michael); seven great-grandchildren, as well as her brother, William (Mary), Sydney Mines. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Edmund; sons, Billy and Richard; daughter-in-law, Mary; sisters, Annie May Steffens and Hilda MacKinnon; brothers, Isaiah and Ronnie. Special thanks to the staff of Glasgow Hall for the wonderful care she received during her time there. There will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday, September 12 at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Dennis Lamey officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of your choice.
