PINE, Phillip Seagrave – 95, Truro, passed away Friday, March 2, 2018, in Camp Hill Veteran’s Memorial Building, QEII, Halifax. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Harry and Josephine (Rath) Pine. He started his career with Royal Canadian Air Force and was stationed in Bathurst, New Brunswick, where he met and married the love of his life, Mary Clothilda “Tillie” (Doucet) Pine. He worked at Fairey Aviation while pursuing a career with Canadian National Railway, where he worked as a Fireman and then Engineer. Dad loved music, both at home and during his stay at Veterans Memorial. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family and is survived by his daughters, Ann (Tony) Benson, Beaver Bank; Vickie Pine, Lower Selma; Dr. Lila Pine, Toronto; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Mary Clothilda “Tillie” (Doucet); son, David; sisters, Pauline Lynds, Lila Foster; brother, Harry Pine. Special thanks are extended to Sheila Hoyt and Yeshe Moon (Dad’s caregivers), Veterans Memorial Interdisciplinary Team, nurses of Victoria 6 East and Music Therapist, Johanne Gallant, for their care and compassion. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2018, Rick C. Benson officiating. Reception will follow. Spring interment in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, 125 Robie Street, Truro. If so desired, donations in Phillip’s memory to a charity of choice are welcomed.
