Pete Delaney

Funeral service for the late Donald Patrick ‘Pete’ Delaney, Lakevale, Antigonish County, was held July 27 in St. Columba Church, Lakevale, with Father Andrew Boyd officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Mr. Delaney died July 23, 2018, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Readers at the funeral Mass were Ann Boyd and Ann MacKenzie. Clary and Joan MacDonald presented the offertory gifts. Music was provided by Ty Wallace. Pallbearers were Carroll Boyd, Michael Boyd, Allan Kennedy, Carl Brown, Donald Haskett and Paul van de Wiel. Born December 25, 1950, in Antigonish, he was the son of the late James B. ‘Jim’ Delaney and Mary Alena (MacGillivray) Delaney. He was a farmer, fisherman, carpenter and community volunteer. He is survived by his wife, Irma (Butler); four brothers, Bill (Patricia), Gerard (Elaine), Martin (Mary Jo), Harold (Brenda); five brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews of the Delaney and Butler families.
