Funeral service for the late Percy Douglas George, 79, Little Dover, Guysborough County, was held September 25 in St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Little Dover, with Father Jonathan Nnajiofor officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Mr. George died September 21, 2018, in Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso. Born June 4, 1939, in Canso, he was the eldest son of the late Frederick and Leona (Newell) George. He worked as a qualified fish cutter in Port Bickerton, Mulgrave and Canso for many years. He enjoyed playing cards with his wife and friends. He was a devoted and faithful member of St. Agnes Parish, Little Dover. He volunteered on many committees: the Little Dover Fire Dept., St. Agnes Parish Council, Little Dover Community Development Association and donated a lot of his time to the Black Duck Cove Project. He was awarded the Representative Volunteer of the Year Award in 2007. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marie (Bouchie); two sons, Steve (Valda), Lesterdale; Mike, Little Dover; two grandchildren, Nathaniel, Guysborough; Amy Leigh, Lesterdale; two brothers, Gordon (Noreen), Jerry (Heather), both of Canso; four sisters, Laurena, Enfield; Shirley, Canso; Freda Konning, Ontario; Pam (Tony Bailey), Glace Bay; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Nina (Jud Feltmate); brother, Freeman (Pierenna); brother-in-law, Joe Konning. Memorial donations may be made to the Eastern Memorial Hospital Foundation.
