PAUL GERARD CANNON
Funeral service for the late Paul Gerard ‘Boomer’ Cannon, 60, Port Hood, was held September 10 in St. Peter’s Church, Port Hood, with Father Bernie MacDonald and Father Vincent vanZutphen officiating.
Mr. Cannon died September 1, 2019.
Born April 9, 1959, in Inverness, he was the son of the late Michael Ernest and Catherine Anne (Campbell) Cannon. He had deep faith and treasured family above all things. He played and coached hockey, spending hours at arenas watching his children and grandchildren take to the sport. He also enjoyed harness racing, playing cards, particularly SCAT, watching the New York Islanders, hunting and travelling the backroads of Inverness County. He worked at the department of transportation for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sheila (Dobbin) Cannon; four children, Katie (Callum) McDaniel, Julie (Colin Allen), Daniel (Keisha), Kevin; seven grandchildren, Rowen, Carly, Hannah and Finley McDaniel, Kieran Allen, Eli and Carson Cannon; six siblings, Jackie Campbell (late Patricia), Rossport, Ontario; Florence McGary (Tom), Framingham, Massachusetts; Shirley Campbell (Sam), Milford, Mass.; Ernest Cannon (Pauline), Holiston, Mass.; Lorraine MacDonald (Brian), Barbara Cannon MacDonald (Edward), Port Hood; mother-in-law, Mary Dobbin; extended family, Coleen and Lauchie MacIsaac, Greg and Elizabeth Dobbin, Blaise and Michelle Dobbin, Patrick and Susan Dobbin; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Charles ‘Chuck’ Dobbin.
Memorial donations may be made to Central Inverness Palliative Care Society, St. Peter’s Parish Cemetery Fund or the Port Hood and Area Resting Place.
