Patricia Marlene MacLean, 65, Port Hawkesbury, died July 16, 2018, at Saint Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born July 1, 1953, in North Sydney, Cape Breton, she was the daughter of the late Michael Gabriel and Sarah Alvina (Johnson) Young. She lived in Toronto, Thunder Bay, Calgary, Edmonton, Auckland, New Zealand, Sydney Mines, Stellarton and, finally, Port Hawkesbury. She was successful at many occupations; banking, compensation adjudication, accounting and as an entrepreneur. She always found time to give back to community through school committees, church organizations and religious education, especially giving her time to assist individuals with intellectual disabilities. She was a dedicated wife and a creative mother, who took great pride in caring for her family – stepping aside from her career to raise her children. Her wit, wisdom and great sense of humour will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband, Peter Lean MacLean; son, MacKenzie James, Port Hawkesbury; daughter, Sarah Catherine, Dartmouth; four sisters, Sharon (Archie) Forrestall, Mulgrave; Beverly (Doug) Currie, Dartmouth; Bernice Masters, Dartmouth; Charmaine (Victor) Sakalauskas, Dartmouth; two brothers, Greg (Chris), Oshawa; Grant, Peterborough. She was predeceased by brother, Michael. She donated her remains to scientific study.
